Sinopse

áudio visual e, animação de aproximadamente 5 minutos, com várias cenas do cotidiano comum, com a locução (áudio em off), na língua da etnia Umutina.
Sobre a etnia Umutina-balatiponé – aldeia da reserva na região de Barra do Bugres (MT), classificada como pertencente ao tronco lingüístico Macro-Jê, da família Bororo. Segundo a UNESCO - Organização das Nações Unidas para Educação, essa língua foi considerada “extinta”. Sua perda está associada à violência do contato deste povo com os não índios, ocorrido a partir de 1911. Após alguns anos muitas epidemias assolaram a região, provocando a morte de quase todos os Umutina. Os sobreviventes passaram a viver junto aos pacificadores do que atuavam na região e foram educados em uma escola para índios, que ensinava somente a cultura dos brancos, sendo proibidos de falar sua língua materna e praticar qualquer tipo de atividade relacionada à sua cultura material e imaterial.
Atualmente o Português é a língua predominante, porém os membros da comunidade lutam, por meio do conhecimento dos idosos, de professores e universitários indígenas, para recuperar a língua.

About the Umutina-balatiponé ethnic group - a reserve village in the region of Barra do Bugres (MT), classified as belonging to the Macro-Jê linguistic trunk of the Bororo family. According to UNESCO - United Nations Education Organization, this language was considered "extinct". Their loss is associated with the violence of the contact of this people with non-Indians, which occurred after 1911. After a few years many epidemics devastated the region, causing the death of almost all the Umutina. The survivors came to live with the pacifiers of those who acted in the region and were educated in a school for Indians, who taught only the culture of whites, being prohibited from speaking their mother tongue and practicing any type of activity related to their material and immaterial culture .
Currently Portuguese is the predominant language, but members of the community struggle, through the knowledge of the elderly, of indigenous teachers and university students, to recover the language.
